SERI KEMBANGAN - Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali will be laid to rest next to the grave of Datin Seri Endon Mahmood at Pusara Negara (National Cemetery), Precinct 20, Putrajaya.
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was communicated by the Ceremonial and International Conference Secretariat Division (BIUPA) following the family’s decision to bury Tun Dr Siti Hasmah at Pusara Negara.
"In a media statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, the government has instructed the Chief Secretary to the Government and the Chief of Defence Forces to ensure a state funeral is accorded to Dr Siti Hasmah,” he told reporters after paying his last respects here today.
Fahmi arrived at the residence at about 2.15 pm with his wife.
He said all radio and television stations had been instructed to amend their schedules and programmes throughout today as a mark of respect for Tun Dr Siti Hasmah.
Recalling his memories of her, Fahmi said one of his earliest memories was of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah watching a theatre performance in which he participated with his schoolmates when he was 12.
"That is perhaps among my earliest memories. I feel this passing is certainly unexpected, but it is the will of the Almighty.
"She meant a lot of things to many people, and indeed her services as a mother and as a doctor will always be remembered by us,” he said.
