PUTRAJAYA - Two cyclists died after being hit by a vehicle at kilometre 9.0 of Jalan Persiaran Selatan, Putrajaya, last night, said Putrajaya district police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed.

In a statement today, Aidi Sham said the accident occurred at 10.15pm, involving a vehicle driven by a local man in his 40s and two male cyclists aged in their 40s and 30s respectively.

"Initial investigations found that the vehicle being driven had changed direction from the middle lane to the left lane before hitting the two cyclists.

"As a result of the accident, both cyclists were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident due to severe injuries to their face and head," he said.

He said investigations were continuing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Therefore, he asked the public or witnesses to the incident who had relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the Putrajaya Traffic Police Station at 03-88862138 or any nearby police station. - BERNAMA
