BELURAN: A collision involving two vehicles left two people dead and another seriously injured, here, on Sunday.

Beluran District Police Chief Supt Kasim Muda said those killed were the driver of a sedan and his passenger, both 44.

He said the 62-year-old driver of a four-wheel drive was seriously injured in the collision that occurred along the Telupid-Tongod road at 6pm.

Kasim, in a statement Monday, said the driver was undergoing treatment after being rushed to hospital by an ambulance.

In RANAU, two women were injured while eight others escaped injuries after a 12-seater tourist van skidded and overturned, on Sunday.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened at Jalan Kundasang-Mesilau, near Cottage Hotel Ranau, at 3.53pm.

He said a six-member team led by Wasli Saupin rushed to the location some 17km from the station.

“There were 10 people consisting of five men including the driver and five women who were removed by the public before the Fire and Rescue machinery arrived,” he said.

According to Ridwan, two female victims sustained minor injuries and were given initial treatment by the EMRS team and one of them was sent to the hospital using the EMRS machine for further treatment.

“The other eight victims are safe. After making sure there was no more danger, the operation ended at 5.27pm,” he said.
