On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, I had the opportunity to be part of a small yet meaningful CSR initiative held at Pusat Transit Gelandangan Anjung Kembara, Kuala Lumpur. The programme, organised by Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia in conjunction with the Ramadan season, focusing on distributing food packs to the homeless community residing there for their iftar (breaking of fast).

The effort may have seemed modest on paper — a total of 100 food packs consisting of meals from The Chicken Rice Shop, Roti John, and syrup drinks — but the atmosphere on the ground told a much deeper story. It was one filled with keprihatinan (care), empati (empathy), and a growing sense of kesedaran sosial (social awareness) among those involved.
The programme began with a brief opening speech and a short briefing by one of the centre’s managers at around 5:30 PM, approximately two hours before iftar. The initiative was also supported by the presence of two artistes under Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia, namely Atta Rumnan and Siqma, who joined in to help menyantuni (engage with and care for) the residents throughout the session.

As the distribution took place, what stood out most was not just the act of giving, but the genuine interactions that unfolded. The residents were visibly appreciative, and there was a shared sense of kasih sayang (compassion) in the air — something that cannot be quantified through numbers alone. Adding to the warmth of the evening, the residents were also pleasantly surprised to receive duit raya before dispersing, which sparked visible excitement among many of them.

While the entire programme lasted for only about two hours, it carried a sense of keberkatan (blessing) that lingered far beyond its duration. It served as a gentle reminder that acts of kindness do not always have to be grand to be meaningful.
With Aidilfitri just around the corner — and many preparing to return to their hometowns in the next couple of days — moments like this reinforce the importance of doing good, giving back, and embracing the spirit of Ramadan in its truest form.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little time, a small effort, and a sincere intention to make a difference.

It is also important to note that throughout the documentation of this programme, the faces of the residents were intentionally censored. This was done out of respect for their privacy and in compliance with guidelines set by the management of the centre.
