
LAHAD DATU: Two houses were destroyed and three others were partly damaged in a fire in Taman Aman 1, Jalan Silam, here, on Thursday.
District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Sumsoa Rashid said he was in the nearby areas when the incident occurred and alerted the station at 5.31pm.
Nineteen firefighters were rushed to the scene in two fire engines, EMRS vehicle and a Four-Wheel- Drive (4WD).
Upon arrival, the firemen saw five one-storey terraced houses were on fire.

Read more The firemen put out the fire using two streams of 200 feet with four sprouts using water sources from fire hydrant.
“The fire was put under control at 6.30pm. Two houses were completely destroyed, one house was 50 per cent destroyed and two other houses were 20 per cent damage,” he said.
He said no casualties were reported. Police, Civil Defence Force and Sabah Electricity personnel were also at the scene. The operation ended at 8.35pm.
The cause of fire as well as losses are under investigation.
