
SIPITANG: Two houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Ranau-Ranau here on Monday evening.
A team of six personnel from the Sipitang Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene, located about 11 kilometres away, following a distress call received at 5.37pm.
The operations commander reported upon arrival that the blaze involved a semi-permanent house and a non-permanent structure, each measuring 30 by 40 square feet, which were 95 per cent burnt.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at 6.20pm using two 200-foot hose lines with three water jets drawing supply directly from the fire engine's water tank.
No casualties were reported in the incident, and the entire operation concluded at 7.45pm after overhaul works were completed to ensure no remaining embers could reignite.
