Kota Kinabalu: Two undocumented men were sentenced to 10 months jail by the Magistrate’s Court, Tuesday, for committing cutting cables belonging to a telecommunications company.
Aidol Jumahari, 30, and Rolli Nobi, 30, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to cutting the cables belonging to Telekom Malaysia Berhad at Jalan Aeropod, Kepayan, on Jan 3 at 12.50pm.
The charge under Section 431A of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both, on conviction.
The magistrate was informed by the prosecution that Aidol and Rolli were seen cutting the cables, and police managed to catch them.

Unrepresented, Aidol and Rolli requested a lenient sentence.
The court ordered Aidol and Rolli to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving their sentences.
In another case, two women were fined a total of RM2,200 or two months jail for engaging in gambling activities.
Juina Saibullah, 26, and Atikah Balli, 25, who appeared separately before Magistrates Stephanie and Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali pleaded guilty to committing the offence.
Juina was fined RM1,000 or a month in jail for having gambling paraphernalia illegally, including two lottery tickets, at 6.10pm on Jan 16 in Sinsuran Kompleks.
Juina was charged under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act and carries a jail term of up to six months, or fine of up to RM3,000, or both, on conviction.
Atikah was fined RM1,200 or a month in jail for engaging in online gambling sessions in public at 3.05pm on Nov 7, last year, in Inanam.
She was charged under Section 7(2) of the same Act, which provides for a fine of RM5,000 or up to six months jail or both, on conviction. Counsel Carmen Khoo, representing Juina, requested a lenient fine as she is unemployed and required to take care of her grandparents.
Meanwhile, Atikah, unrepresented, requested leniency.
