
BEAUFORT: Two people were killed and two others seriously injured in an accident involving a Perodua Myvi and a Toyota Unser along Km 25, Jalan Kg Lingkungan, between Beaufort and Sipitang, on Sunday.
District Police Chief DSP Ismail Abdullah said the deceased were identified as Midin @ Maidin Sinja, 69, and his wife, Jurai Imran, 65.
The duo, who were residents of Kg Lingkungan, were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Beaufort Hospital following the 2.35pm accident.
The Myvi driver and his wife were reportedly heading towards Beaufort when their vehicle lost control, veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the oncoming Unser.

Read more The Unser was driven by a 69-year-old retired teacher from Sindumin, with his 65-year-old wife as a passenger.
Both sustained serious injuries in the collision and were rushed to the Beaufort Hospital for treatment.
A team from the Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene to assist in retrieving the trapped victims from the wreckage.
In the wake of the accident, police advised the public to exercise utmost caution while driving, even on seemingly good and straight roads.
“Vehicles can suddenly lose control, so it’s crucial to remain vigilant and avoid speeding,” Ismail said.
