PARIT: Two male students of a tahfiz school here were brought before the Magistrate’s Court here today on charges of injuring another student with an iron on Sept 19.
The students, aged 13 and 14, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai.
According to the charges, the two students, acting together, on Sept 19 at 4 pm intentionally caused an injury likely to cause death to another 13-year-old student by using an iron at a tahfiz school.
The accused were charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any combination of two of these punishments.
The case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor R. Jayasri, while both accused were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Nur Nadrah Badarudin.
The magistrate set bail at RM500 for each accused and fixed Oct 27 for mention of the case.
