Two women claim trial to ‘bomoh’ scam conspiracy

Kota Kinabalu: Two women, including a Chinese national, claimed trial Friday to conspiring to cheat three women through an alleged “bomoh” syndicate.

Hee Nyin Fung, 48, and Li Li, 38, each faced three charges before Sessions Court Judges Monica Linsua and Zaini Fishir, respectively.

The alleged offences involved women aged 47, 51 and 69 at the Menggatal Town Market, Central Market and Gaya Street tamu between Feb 3 and July 19.

The charges under Sections 420 and 120B(1) of the Penal Code provide for between one and 10 years’ jail and whipping, and a possible fine, upon conviction.

The court fixed Oct 1 for pre-trial case management and released them on RM5,000 bail, with RM2,000 deposited for each charge, subject to several conditions.
