
MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Francisco was forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday evening or Friday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Tuesday.
Pagasa said in its 5 p.m. bulletin that the typhoon maintained its strength while moving over the Philippine Sea but it remained far from the landmass.
It said that Signal No. 1 remains up over Batanes, the northeastern portion of Cagayan including the eastern portion of Babuyan Islands.
Moving northwestward at 10 kilometers per hour (kph) while packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kph and gustiness of up to 215 kph, “Francisco” was estimated to be 330 kms east of Calayan, Cagayan, Pagasa said.
