A group of Ukrainian veteran amputees is spending two weeks in Corvallis, Oregon, USA, learning adaptive skiing to improve their physical and mental health.
Hosted by the Corvallis Sister Cities Association, the veterans, along with two Ukrainian ski coaches, are being trained to use adaptive ski equipment. The goal is to help the coaches teach other amputees back home in Ukraine.
Carol Paulson, co-founder of the association, believes adaptive sports can help veterans regain confidence and participation in life after injury.
