THE death of Umno Maran Youth chief Mohd Radzi Rahimi in a road accident in Bentong has left party leaders mourning the loss of a respected colleague and friend.
Mohd Radzi, who led the Umno Maran Youth division, died after the Ford Ranger Raptor he was travelling in, together with his wife, son and brother-in-law, was crushed by a fallen tree along Jalan Bentong-Raub today.
The tragedy was shared by Pahang assemblyman and Umno Jerantut division chief Haris Salleh Hamzah in a Facebook post, where he conveyed his condolences to the family.
Haris described the incident as a heartbreaking loss and prayed that Mohd Radzi, his wife Nuriani Mohammad Jafri, their son Muhammad Rizz Hazim and brother-in-law Mohammad Nizam Mohammad Jafri would be granted Allah’s mercy.
“It is with great sadness that I received the news of the passing of Edy, the Umno Maran division Youth chief, together with his wife, child and brother-in-law, who were killed in an accident in Bentong.
“May Allah forgive their sins, accept their good deeds and place them among those who are blessed.
“My condolences to the entire family. May they be given strength and patience in facing this difficult test,” he said.

Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh also paid tribute to Mohd Radzi, describing him as a close friend who stood by him through various moments in life.
Akmal said the loss was deeply felt by the Umno Youth leadership and members, while expressing his condolences to the family.
“On behalf of the Umno Youth movement, I would like to extend my condolences to the entire family.
“May Allah forgive his sins, accept his deeds and elevate his status in His sight,” he said in a Facebook post.
Recalling their friendship, Akmal said Mohd Radzi was someone who was always there for him through both difficult and happy times.
“My true friend who was always by my side through hardship and happiness,” he said.
The crash occurred at about 12.30 pm near Lentang, Bentong, involving five people in the vehicle.
Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said four people died in the incident, including a 35-year-old male driver, a woman seated in the front passenger seat, a five-year-old boy and a 40-year-old male passenger seated at the back.
Another five-year-old boy survived with injuries and was taken for medical treatment.
Police said the vehicle was hit by a falling tree while travelling along the road, causing the fatal crash. – August 3, 2026
