UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan today advised political leaders not to subscribe to the notion that the end justifies the means, nor to the idea of completely destroying one’s opponents.
Without referring to any individual or specific issue, the Deputy Works Minister said in a Facebook post this morning that such approaches should have no place in politics or in life, describing them as fundamentally unethical.
Instead, he called on all parties to pursue their goals through honourable and principled means.
“Do not practise these two methods in politics and in life: ‘the end justifies the means’ and ‘kill your enemies completely’.
“These are unethical methods, especially in the world of politics and also in daily life.
“A life lived with blessings is safe. Use honourable methods to achieve your goals,” he said.
In his post, Ahmad also shared information sourced from Google and Wikipedia to illustrate his point.
A quotation cited from Google read: “The phrase ‘kill your enemies completely’ is most famously associated with Law 15 of Robert Greene’s book, The 48 Laws of Power.” - December 29, 2025
