Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday visited the founder of the ‘Selfie with Daughter’ campaign, Sunil Jaglan, at his residence in Bibipur village of Jind district.
Khattar praised the campaign for spreading awareness about women empowerment, launched by former sarpanch Sunil Jaglan. He also lauded the efforts under the “Gali Band Ghar” (Abusive Language Free Home) campaign.
Khattar said the “Selfie with Daughter” campaign has given strong momentum to the government’s “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” (Save Daughter, Educate Daughter) initiative across the country.
He described it as a unique and exemplary social reform effort promoting awareness about the use of abusive language under the “Gali Band Ghar” initiative.
Jaglan said Khatter has always shown deep interest in social issues and that the minister continues to guide him from time to time. He also briefed him about the “Selfie with Daughter” campaign and highlighted his efforts in preventing female foeticide and improving child sex ratio.
During the visit, Khattar interacted with Sunil Jaglan’s daughters, Nandini Jaglan and Yachika Jaglan and praised them for their interest in social work from a young age.
He blessed them and appreciated their involvement. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Jaglan’s work more than 10 times on various platforms, including “Mann Ki Baat”.
The “Selfie with Daughter” campaign has also helped enhance India’s image at the international level.
