UNOFFICIAL: Amanah loses sole Negeri Sembilan seat as Rais Yatim’s son Danni wins Klawang

SHAH ALAM – Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) suffered a clean sweep in the Negeri Sembilan state election after losing all nine seats it contested, including its sole seat in Klawang.

The party’s incumbent Datuk Bakri Sawir was defeated by Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) candidate Danni Rais, the son of former minister and veteran politician Tun Mohd Rais Yatim.

Based on unofficial results, Danni secured 746 votes, edging Bakri, who garnered 683 votes. Bersatu candidate Adib Musa received 83 votes.

The defeat means Amanah has lost the only state seat it won in the 2023 Negeri Sembilan state election, ending Bakri’s tenure as the Klawang assemblyman.

Danni’s victory also marks a significant political breakthrough for the son of the veteran politician, who has held several senior positions in the Federal Government and remains a prominent figure in Negeri Sembilan politics.

Amanah fielded candidates in nine constituencies - Serting, Lenggeng, Senaling, Johol, Paroi, Kota, Bagan Pinang, Gemencheh and Klawang - but failed to secure any of them.

The party had previously held both Paroi and Klawang. However, in the 2023 state election, Amanah retained Klawang while losing Paroi to Perikatan Nasional (PN), whose candidate Kamarol Ridzuan Mohd Zin won the seat.

The loss of Klawang now leaves Amanah without representation in the Negeri Sembilan state assembly.

Official results for the Klawang seat has yet to be announced by the Election Commission.
