SHAH ALAM – No candidates from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Parti Ikatan Demokratik Malaysia (Muda) or Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) were leading in any seat in the Johor state election as of the unofficial results at 8.30pm on Saturday.
Based on the unofficial results, PN, which contested 33 seats, Muda with four seats and Bersama with candidates in 15 seats, had yet to take the lead in any state constituency.
The vote-counting process at all official tallying centres is still ongoing, with the official results expected to be announced by the election authorities once verification is complete.
A total of 56 state seats were contested in the Johor state election, with 29 seats required to form the state government through a simple majority.
In the 15th Johor state election held in March 2022, Barisan Nasional (BN) formed the state government after winning 40 out of the 56 contested state seats.
Voter turnout as of 4pm on Saturday stood at 63.13 per cent.
Based on an infographic by the Election Commission (EC), a total of 1,693,625 out of 2,682,642 registered voters had fulfilled their voting responsibilities.
Semarang recorded the highest voter turnout at 72.6 per cent, followed by Sri Medan at 71.6 per cent and Sedili at 70.5 per cent.
