[UNOFFICIAL] Negeri Sembilan polls: BN-PN cooperation formula works, ‘blue wave’ set to spread to Melaka

SEREMBAN – The cooperation formula between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 16th Negeri Sembilan polls has proven successful, with the coalition unofficially securing 25 out of the 36 State Legislative Assembly seats.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the unofficial results showed BN had won 18 seats, while PN secured seven seats.

“This means BN-PN has surpassed the two-thirds majority in the State Legislative Assembly and the unofficial results are based on vote counts completed at all polling channels in the respective constituencies.

“However, it remains subject to the official announcement by the Election Commission (EC), which is expected at 10pm tonight,” he said during a press conference at Wisma Umno Negeri Sembilan here on Saturday.

Representing the BN-PN leadership, Zahid expressed appreciation and gratitude to all voters who came out to fulfil their civic responsibility and gave the coalition the opportunity to lead the state administration once again.

He said the understanding reached between both parties during the Negeri Sembilan polls would be translated into the formation of a stable state government based on the people’s mandate.

“We will hold further discussions between both coalition parties to finalise the formation of the new state government, subject to the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and the Undang Yang Empat,” he said.

Zahid said BN-PN accepted the decision with humility and a strong sense of responsibility.

He stressed that the people’s trust should not be seen as a reason to boast or become arrogant, but instead must be repaid through hard work.

“An accountable administration and the best service for all Negeri Sembilan residents. We also extend our deepest appreciation to voters who supported BN-PN.

“We would like to thank our friends from across the country, especially the candidates who worked tirelessly for the candidates who won,” he said.

Zahid also stressed that the coalition understood the mandate came with a major responsibility to form a stable, capable government that would truly work to resolve the people’s issues and enhance the state’s prosperity.

He added that BN-PN would ensure all pledges in its manifesto would be fulfilled for the benefit of the people.

“InsyaAllah, this decision will also bring another wave for us to continue the ‘blue wave’ that began in Johor, which will spread to Melaka.

“Alhamdulillah, support from Malaysians of various races and backgrounds, including members of the security forces, has delivered a clear message that the people want stability and we believe this is the true meaning of unity that the people have longed for,” he said.

Zahid reiterated that the victory should not cause the coalition to become complacent or arrogant, adding that its success would only continue if it repays the people’s confidence through performance, results and meaningful changes that can truly be felt.
