MANILA, Philippines — The UP Fighting Maroons staved off the UE Lady Warriors, 25-12, 25-9, 21-25, 25-19, to pick up the first win in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Saturday.
Irah Jaboneta led all scorers with 15 points including 14 attacks and one ace on top of five excellent digs in the first match of the season. Casiey Dongallo also came through in her UP debut, firing 13 points against her former team.
Van Bangayan carried the fight for the Lady Warriors with 19 points and five digs.
