ABOUT 12 hours after the US Open revealed Alex Eala’s opening match schedule is set for the Tuesday night session on September 1 at Louis Armstrong Stadium, the cheapest ticket available on the secondary-market (ticket resale platforms) doubled.
TicketData founder Keith Slusser posted the development on X on Sunday, saying that before the Saturday announcement (Sunday in Manila) of the Filipino tennis star’s schedule, the session’s get-in price was just under $200 then rose to nearly $400 after the reveal.
That’s around P12,500 to nearly P25,000.
Eala will play American Mary Stoiana in the Tuesday night session (Wednesday morning in Manila) following the ATP match between Adolfo Vallejo and Gael Monfils on September 1 at 7 p.m. in New York (September 2 at 7 a.m. in Manila).
That would likely place Eala’s match around 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Manila.
“Alex Eala fever is running hot in NYC (New York City),” wrote Slusser, captioning a graph showing the surge in get-in prices.
“Since it was announced today that her Round 1 match will be on Louis Armstrong, the session’s get-in price has doubled in about 12 hours, from under $200 to now approaching $400. No other session is even up 25% since matchups announced.”
