
MANILA, Philippines — The UST Golden Tigresses recovered from an opening set loss to surge to their third straight win at Ateneo Blue Eagles' expense, 21-25, 25-11, 25-22, 25-12, in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum Saturday.
Tied at 6-6 in the fourth set, UST blasted a 13-4 run to seize a 23-10 lead and eventually finish the match.
Angge Poyos hammered 25 points laced with 11 excellent receptions and five digs to lead the Golden Tigresses, who rose to 5-3 for a share of third place with the FEU Lady Tamaraws.
Regina Jurado aided Poyos with 20 points and 21 excellent digs.
Ana Hermosura drilled 11 points, and logged 12 digs and nine receptions to pace Ateneo, which barged back to the losing column after taking its first win against UE last timeout.
The Blue Eagles dropped to 1-7 for seventh place in the 8-team league.
