PASIG City has expanded its primary health care coverage with 36 of its more than 40 local health centers now accredited under the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.’s (PhilHealth) Yaman ng Kalusugan (Yakap) program, Mayor Vico Sotto said Friday evening.
In a Facebook video released by Pasig City Health Promotion in observance of National Health Insurance Month, Sotto said that the accreditation strengthens the city’s push for universal health care by reinforcing primary-level health care services.
“Of our 40 health care facilities or our health centers, 36 are already accredited by PhilHealth for the Yakap program,” he said.
Under the Yakap program of PhilHealth, members may receive free maintenance medicines, diagnostics, laboratory services, examinations and other primary care benefits through accredited health centers.
Sotto said Pasig has more than 40 health care facilities and village health centers under the City Health Department, with ongoing infrastructure works aimed at further improving service delivery.
He said residents only need to inquire at their nearest health center, with PhilHealth membership as the primary requirement for availing the program.
Nonmembers may also visit the health centers to seek help with the enrollment process, he added.
Residents may also go to the temporary City Health Department facility at the Pasig Sports Center for inquiries and other health services.
Sotto urged the public to continue supporting local and national government health programs and to avail themselves of services already provided by the city as it works toward a stronger, more accessible health care for Pasigueños.
