(UPDATE) THIRTY couples sealed their vows in Pasig City on Valentine’s Day for the annual Kasalang Bayan of the local government, made more memorable by Ben&Ben’s serenade on Saturday.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto officiated the ceremony, leading the couples through their marriage rites before formally pronouncing them husband and wife, and inviting them to seal their union with a kiss.

Families, friends and city officials witnessed the solemn ceremony, which was followed by cheers as the newlyweds celebrated their first moments as married couples.

Moments later, Ben&Ben emerged as a surprise guest and performed live for the 30 couples, serenading them with their latest track “Duyan,” and fan favorites “Araw-Araw” and “Pagtingin,” turning the government-led wedding into a mini-concert.

In a post on their official Facebook account, the band said it was their first time performing at a mass wedding.

“First time to witness and perform at a Kasalang Bayan. In hardship and comfort, sadness and joy, long live the newlyweds. It’s time to fill your cradle with memories. Thank you, Mayor Vico Sotto and Pasig City Public Information Office,” the group said.

Officials said the Pasig City Kasalang Bayan offers a complete wedding package, including a ceremonial walk down the aisle, a reception and tokens from the local government and the band, to help couples formalize their union without worrying about financial concerns.

The Office of the City Mayor organized the event in coordination with various city government offices as part of the city’s Valentine’s Day celebration.
