Vietnam Airlines has officially launched its new nonstop service between Hanoi and Amsterdam, marking the first direct air connection between Vietnam and the Netherlands operated by a Vietnamese airline.
The inaugural flight departed Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on 16 June, carrying nearly 300 passengers aboard an Airbus A350. The new route forms part of the airline’s broader strategy to expand its international network and strengthen connectivity between Vietnam and key European markets.
The service will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Airbus A350 aircraft. The route provides direct access between the two capitals while offering passengers convenient onward connections through Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, one of Europe’s largest aviation hubs.
Nguyen Quang Trung, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, said the launch reflects the carrier’s ongoing commitment to expanding its global network and supporting travel between Vietnam and international destinations.
Amsterdam joins the airline’s growing European network, which now comprises 12 nonstop routes linking Vietnam with eight major cities across the continent, including Paris, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen and Moscow.
Beyond passenger travel, the new service is expected to support growing trade, investment and tourism exchanges between Vietnam and the Netherlands, while strengthening business and cultural ties between the two countries.
The route launch comes as Vietnam Airlines continues to increase capacity on selected international services. From 1 July 2026, the airline will increase its Hanoi–Moscow service from three to four weekly round-trip flights in response to rising demand.
Together, the Amsterdam launch and Moscow expansion reflect Vietnam Airlines’ continued focus on enhancing international connectivity and supporting Vietnam’s growing engagement with global markets.
