Jonas Vingegaard completed his second stage win of the Giro d’Italia after a successful attack on Felix Gall.
Team Visma’s Vingegaard narrowed the gap on leader Afonso Eulalio to two minutes and 24 seconds after finishing stage nine from Cervia to Corno alle Scale 12 seconds ahead of Decathlon rider Gall in second place.
“We didn’t want to ride for the stage win — it was Decathlon who took control of the race,” Vingegaard said on Sunday.
“It’s always nice to win, especially for my team-mates who worked hard all day. I’m not in the Maglia Rosa but I’m exactly where I wanted to be at this point in the Giro.”
