THE Home Ministry said images of the new passport and MyKad designs that have gone viral on social media are not official and were not issued by the ministry.
The ministry, in a statement, said that the visual designs were not authentic and do not reflect the actual designs of the new passport or MyKad as claimed.
Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, made an official announcement regarding plans for the new passport and MyKad this year.
“All official information regarding the design and security features of the passport and MyKad will be announced by the ministry through the official communication channels from time to time.
“The public is reminded to always obtain information from legitimate and authoritative sources to ensure the accuracy and validity of any information,” read the statement.
Official information and the latest developments regarding the matter can be obtained through official media channels as well as the ministry websites, the Malaysian Immigration Department and the National Registration Department. – January 13, 2026
