MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday visited victims of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Mindanao.
"We first visited Barangay Nuing in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, to personally check on them and know their situation and needs," Duterte said in Filipino in a post on Facebook.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) said in a statement that she extended assistance to residents affected by the quake.
"We next visited the Sarangani Municipal Hospital and an evacuation center in Barangay Mabila, Balut Island," Duterte said.
The OVP said that Duterte went to Glan, Sarangani province "where she met with displaced families staying at the Glan Tent City evacuation site and that she visited patients at the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team Field Hospital.”
