MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte said the Marcos administration’s focus on political consolidation has come at the expense of protecting children following the deadly shooting at Banga National High School in South Cotabato.
Duterte warned that more violence could erupt in schools.
“When a government prioritizes political consolidation over fundamental governance, the protection of children is inevitably compromised,” Duterte said in a statement Monday.
“The Marcos administration has failed the victims and survivors of the South Cotabato tragedy,” she added.
She also accused the administration of failing to ensure safe and peaceful communities, saying it focused on political survival and consolidation instead of meaningful action to maintain order.
She added that more Filipino children remained at risk because of what she described as the government’s incompetence and neglect.
