KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan will contest all 73 seats in the 17th State Election without forming alliances, confident of securing a two-thirds majority on its own.

President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (pic) said Warisan’s decision to go solo reflects its belief that the people of Sabah, not political deals, will determine the next State government.

He said the party’s confidence is grounded in Sabah’s political history, noting that single parties such as Berjaya and Parti Bersatu Sabah had governed effectively for nearly a decade each without coalitions.

Citing examples from Kelantan and past Sabah administrations, Shafie said Warisan aims to emulate such stability and intends to focus on resolving critical issues like water and electricity supply if it forms the next government.

He reaffirmed that Warisan had turned down overtures from other parties, including Star, and stressed that the party’s only partnership is with the 3.9 million people of Sabah.
