KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno’s strategic communications director Datu Rosman Datu Ahir Zaman (pic) reminded voters to reflect on the state’s economic decline under the former Warisan government as the 17th State Election approaches.
He said Sabah’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth plunged from 8.2 per cent in 2017 to 1.5 per cent in 2018, before falling further to 0.5 per cent in 2019 — the lowest in Malaysia’s history.
Between 2018 and 2020, Warisan’s populist “green reform” policies were introduced without clear economic analysis or transition plans, resulting in the suspension of logging and export bans that disrupted rural livelihoods.
Thousands of people lost jobs, investors withdrew, and state revenues fell sharply due to an impractical approach to environmental policy.
Rosman said Barisan Nasional (BN) remains committed to balanced sustainable development through its proven Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) model that promotes both conservation and prosperity for Sabahans.
