As Malaysian FAMs are preparing for G-Dragon’s Ubermensch concert next week, we thought we’d look at what’s on his watch rack. With his quirky fashion sense and overall style icon status, G-Dragon’s watch collection is nothing short of impressive.
Known as a music icon, K-pop legend and fashion statement pioneer, Kwon Ji-Yong (aka G-Dragon) has been sporting an equally cutting-edge watch rotation that’s drawing on the same mixture of heritage high fashion, conceptual style, and unapologetic boldness that drives his own sense of aesthetics.
G-Dragon is a K-pop artist and so much more — he is a phenomenon. From the beginning with Big Bang under YG Entertainment all the way through to his more recent solo work, G-Dragon has been an individual who speaks for himself but also for generations. Popularly referred to as the “King of K-pop,” he has walked for Chanel’s runway ads, worked with artists worldwide such as Pharrell Williams, and is most recognized for his bold experimentation and impact on Asian fashion in recent years.
The same creative spirit and boldness is also carried over into his watch. From Paris Fashion Week front-row outfits to airport off-duty outfits, G-Dragon’s watches range from gold-cased watches to million-ringgit haute horology. From affordable Casio G-Shocks and covetable Rolexes, to expensive tourbillions from Jacob & Co, his watch collection is as diverse as his fashion choices.

6 stunning timepieces from G-Dragon’s watch collection

During a paparazzi photo at an airport G-Dragon was once spotted with a classic Rolex Day Date 36mm in solid gold. Nothing quite says “you made it” quite like a gold Rolex. Due to its reputation it has become a favourite amongst the go-getters of the world. It is also known as “The President’s watch” after being worn by US Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson, Gerald Ford, and Richard Nixon among others.
Inside the modern version of the Day-Date sits the Rolex Calibre 3255, which is a next-generation in-house self-winding mechanical movement. It is certified as a Superlative Chronometer with around 70-hour power reserve and offers outstanding accuracy, shock resistance and anti-magnetic quality — all of which fall within Rolex’s high standards.

Why settle for just one Rolex? G-Dragon also sported the Day-Date 40, a bit bigger in the same regal style. On champagne dial and signature President bracelet, the watch demonstrates how he combines eternal high-end elegance with modern proportions. Except this one comes with a black sunburst dial that adds a touch of mystery and bad-boy vibes that perfectly complement G-Dragon.
Like its smaller 36mm sibling, the Day-Date 40 also runs on the Rolex Calibre 3255. This high-performance automatic movement incorporates Rolex’s patented Chronergy escapement for enhanced efficiency and reliability. It delivers the same 70-hour power reserve and maintains an accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day — far exceeding standard chronometer ratings.

Coming up next is perhaps the most surreal watch in his collection — the Jacob & Co Astronomia Solar G-Dragon. With its orbiting planets and four-arm vertical movement, this haute horlogerie timepiece is far from ordinary. Not to mention a daisy which houses the hands for the time. Seen on his wrist during Jacob & Co’s Seoul store opening, the Astronomia is as much a mechanical sculpture as it is a watch, reflecting G-Dragon’s unapologetic love of the dramatic. It is a watch that defies sense, and thus it suits a star who defies all norms.
The Astronomia has the hand-wound JCAM10 calibre, an engineering wonder that rotates along two axes — vertically and horizontally. Its four arms include the triple-axis tourbillon, turning globe, Jacob-cut diamond, and a dial that stays upright as the platform turns. This intricate dance is a mesmerising visual spectacle that oozes technical competence.

Another standout in his collection is the Time Square Boutique Watch, a rare Jacob & Co model that glitters with oversized numerals and gems. Estimated at over RM1 million, it’s a flex that’s more street than boardroom — a piece made for turning heads onstage or in the front row. This model embodies Jacob & Co’s stunning jewelry and G-Dragon’s love of extravagance. The timepiece is powered by a high accuracy Swiss quartz movement, the only way to make the watch that thin.

G-Dragon was also spotted with a Richard Mille during a solo concert. Fitting for someone with a ridiculous net worth, the particular model on his wrist was the Richard Mille RM 035, or the “Baby Nadal.” Its tonneau-shaped carbon case makes it lightweight and durable. It was named after tennis player Rafael Nadal, and was made as a sporty watch that could take a beating, making it a rather fitting watch for a talented stage performer that is stylish yet tough. The prices for this piece range within the RM1 to RM2 million range, reserved for the top tiers of wealth and sophistication.
The RM 035 contains hand-winding calibre RMUL1 that weighs in at only 4.3 grams. Composed of titanium plates and bridges, it benefits from ultra-lightness as well as rigidity, with shock resistance up to 5,000 Gs. It is lighter than a breath but retains a 55-hour power reserve, proof that beauty and endurance can go hand in hand.
Market price: RM 1 – 2 million

Finally, rounding this list with a watch you can actually afford is the Casio G-Shock GA-110-1A. Spotted on the rapper’s wrist during his return from his military service, the watch is a fitting match for military personnel. It’s a tough, oversized digital-analogue hybrid made of resin plastic that retails for just RM650. As many crazy watches G-Dragon has it’s good to know that he knows to chose the right watch for the occasion. During the stress and physical demands of mandatory service, the last thing that should be on one’s mind is if their luxury watch got scratched. Thus, a good-old G-Shock was the watch for the job and is also piece that real military personnel wear today.
This G-Shock features a Casio 5146 quartz module with analogue and digital output. It features stopwatch, world time, countdown timer, and magnetic resistance with a two-year CR1220 battery power.
