Water disruptions can hurt Sabah tourism, says Chan

Kota Kinabalu: Water supply disruptions could affect visitors’ experience and Sabah’s tourism industry, said Kota Kinabalu MP Datuk Chan Foong Hin.

Chan, who is also Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister, said tourism depended on numerous government agencies and supporting economic sectors.

“If tourists come here and complain that they are always facing water disruptions, then that is an issue involving the Sabah Water Department,” he said.

Speaking to the media after launching the Sabah edition of the Star Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2026 held here Saturday, he said the availability of attractive food and beverage offerings was also important.

Chan said all government sectors must adopt a whole-of-government approach, supported by a whole-of-society effort, to ensure the tourism industry’s success.
