
Himachal Pradesh is set to witness a spell of heavy rain accompanied by hailstorms, prompting the State Meteorological Centre to issue orange and yellow weather warnings for June 12.
According to the Meteorological Centre, an orange alert has been issued for Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra and Sirmaur districts, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstorms, lightning and gusty winds at isolated places.
A yellow alert has also been issued for Solan, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Chamba districts, where light to moderate thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated locations.
The Centre has forecast continued precipitation across the state until June 17. Yellow alerts have also been issued for several districts through June 15.
As a result of the expected rainfall, minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2°C to 5°C, while maximum temperatures may decline by 3°C to 8°C, bringing cooler-than-normal weather conditions across the state.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was recorded at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh during the past 24 hours.
Minimum temperatures remained largely normal across most parts of the state and ranged between 7°C and 26°C. Maximum temperatures were 2°C to 5°C above normal and ranged between 23°C and 44°C.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 28°C in Shimla, 34°C in Dharamshala, 37°C in Kangra, 34°C in Solan, 37.2°C in Mandi, 36.8°C in Sundernagar, 22.3°C in Kufri, 21.5°C in Kalpa, 32.8°C in Nahan, 20°C in Keylong and 36°C in Bhuntar.
Una was the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 44°C, while Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest, with a minimum temperature of 6.9°C.
