- The Hunter’s Moon will rise on Sunday, 25 October 2026, in the UK, reaching peak illumination at 4.12am BST. It will still appear full to the naked eye on the evenings around the peak.
- In the US, the Moon reaches peak illumination at 12.11am EDT on Monday, 26 October. The best viewing opportunity will be at moonrise that evening.
- Experts say to look towards the eastern horizon around sunset and choose a spot with a clear view, away from buildings and trees. The Moon will travel across the sky overnight before setting in the west around dawn.
- The Moon may appear larger than usual and take on a yellow, orange or reddish tint as it rises.
- October’s full Moon is called the Hunter’s Moon because bright moonlight traditionally helped hunters prepare for winter after the harvest and November’s Beaver Moon is up next on the lunar calendar
