A Kim Won-seok directorial, the show premiered on 7 March and skyrocketed to fame in no time. One of the best K-dramas of 2025, it stars popular Korean actors IU and Park Bo-gum in leading roles.

Highlighting the message of the show, director Kim shared in a press conference, “It’s a tribute to the generations of grandmothers, grandfathers, fathers and mothers who have lived fiercely, and a song of encouragement for the daughters and sons who will navigate the world ahead.”

In the finale episode of the 2025 K-drama, Gwan-sik passes away due to a terminal illness.

Eun-myeong and his wife Hyeon-suk become parents to a son and a daughter. They also took over the restaurant that Gwan-sik and Ae-sun opened in Jeju in 2002.

Geum-myeong, on the other hand, starts her own business and becomes a successful CEO. In the final moments of the episode, she purchases her grandmother’s old home that her parents had to sell off to pay for her education.

Meanwhile, Ae-sun continues to write and publish poems. She also starts teaching older women to write poems at a nursing home in Jeju.

Could When Life Gives You Tangerines return for season 2?

At the time of writing, there is no official news of season 2 being in the works.

Additionally, according to the media outlet Koreaboo, Netflix has classified the K-drama as a limited series, which further lessens the possibility of a second instalment.
