KUALA LUMPUR: Magma Group Bhd recently announced the commencement of construction for its highly anticipated flagship development, Wolo Hotel & Residences, Mont Kiara KL, through an extraordinary launch event that redefined the traditional property unveiling.
Held under the theme “Timeless Music, Meaningful Connections & Inspired Living,” the exclusive evening transformed the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas into a celebration where architecture, culture, hospitality and the arts converged – reflecting the vision behind one of Kuala Lumpur’s most anticipated lifestyle destinations.
More than 900 distinguished guests attended the event including government officials, business leaders, foreign design consultants, cultural icons and sporting legends.
In his keynote address, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing commended Magma Group for its visionary approach in creating developments that extend beyond conventional real estate.
“Today’s travellers and homeowners seek more than just a place to stay or live. They are looking for authentic experiences that create meaningful memories. Tonight’s celebration successfully brings together hospitality, real estate, arts and culture under one roof.”
Tiong noted that Wolo Hotel & Residences, Mont Kiara KL exemplifies how Malaysian developers are responding to evolving global lifestyle expectations while further strengthening Malaysia’s position as a destination renowned for quality hospitality and premium living.
Magma Group Bhd group managing director cum group CEO Datuk Seri Thomas Liang Chee Fong said, “Why Wolo? Because We Only Live Once. We believe life should be lived boldly, purposefully and with no regrets while creating experiences that inspire others and leave the world a better place.”
He also reflected on his two-decade entrepreneurial journey alongside group executive chairman Datuk Seri Lee Hock Seng, recounting how they acquired the iconic Wolo Kuala Lumpur boutique hotel at Bukit Bintang in 2018 and successfully navigated the unprecedented challenges during the pandemic.
Today, Magma Group is bringing that same spirit of innovation to a 2.26-acre site in the prestigious Mont Kiara enclave.
The upcoming 60-storey landmark introduces an innovative horizontal living concept, where design was carefully thought out and intricately curated. All units were positioned to gather maximum natural daylight so that residents can enjoy the best living experience.
“Buildings and designs can be replicated, but never the soul of Wolo,” said Liang.
“True legacy is not merely about constructing buildings—it is about creating experiences, nurturing emotional connections, and building something worthy of being passed down for many generations to come.”
The evening also recognised the international team of consultants from Malaysia, Bangkok, Shanghai and London who have collaborated to bring the development to life.
According to Magma Group, Wolo Hotel & Residences, Mont Kiara KL represents years of collaboration between some of the industry’s leading architects, designers and consultants, whose expertise has transformed a shared vision into reality.
Nui Ratiwat Suwannatrai, principal, CEO, and co-founder of Openbox Architects, explained that the design philosophy prioritises calmness over extravagance.
“Rather than creating something loud, we wanted to design a home where residents can rediscover inner peace and fall in love with everyday living again.”
David Hashim, group president and director of Veritas Design Group, described Wolo as a new architectural typology that seamlessly integrates a boutique hotel, serviced suites and private branded residences into a cohesive urban lifestyle destination.
Meanwhile, Riyan Itani, founder and director of Global Branded Residences, highlighted that Wolo embodies the global trend of Quiet Opulence, where genuine luxury is defined not by extravagance, but by timeless design, thoughtful service and enduring value.
With the successful launch, Wolo Hotel & Residences, Mont Kiara KL has entered its construction phase.
