PENAMPANG: A 38-year-old local woman died after she was believed to have fallen from the fifth floor of a building in Donggongon, here, Monday.
Penampang Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said police received a report after the woman was found unconscious on the road behind the building at about 12.36pm.
He said the victim, who sustained serious injuries, died while being taken to Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu at about 1.05pm.
“Initial investigations found the victim was believed to have fallen from the fifth floor of the building,” he said in a statement.
Sammy said the cause of the incident remained under investigation, with the case classified as sudden death (SDR), while a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.
He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer and Penampang Police Chief Insp Ahmad Amir Fitri Ab Rahman at 016-449 2215 to assist investigations.
The public was also advised against speculation and sharing photographs or videos of the incident to respect the sensitivity and privacy of the victim’s family.
