Kota Kinabalu: A 44-year-old woman was fined RM2,000 or 2 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here for assaulting her colleague at KPJ Specialist Hospital, Damai.
Rodziah Jalil pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to voluntarily causing hurt to one Kamalia at 9pm on Feb 21, in the hospital’s housekeeping office.
The offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code provides for imprisonment of up to one year, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, on conviction.
Inspector Alia Nuurlysa Adnan said the assault happened when the victim was about to begin her night shift while the accused was carrying out the evening shift.
The victim was punched in the chin which caused her to fall into a chair. Then, the victim was repeatedly attacked on the head, before being thrown to the ground by the accused.
The victim suffered injuries to her chin, head and right elbow.
Rodziah was given the maximum fine, and was unrepresented.
