
TAWAU: A 20-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of being involved in a case of assault and criminal intimidation against a 19-year-old female teenager in Merotai Besar, around 2pm, on Monday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the incident is believed to have occurred following a discussion on a personal matter involving the victim’s niece, which was reportedly not well received by the suspect.
According to him, before the incident, the victim was resting at her home when the suspect arrived to have a discussion.

“The victim who feared for her safety immediately lodged a police report at Bombalai Police Station at 9.25pm on the same day,” he said, Tuesday.
The suspect was arrested by a team from the Bombalai Police Station at around 11,50pm.
The case is being investigated under Section 506/323 of the Penal Code for threatening and hurting someone.
Jasmin reminded people to stay calm when dealing with personal issues and not to lose control or hurt or threaten anyone.
He stressed that such actions not only endanger personal safety but can also lead to serious legal consequences.
