KOTA KINABALU, Aug 7 — A woman was injured after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) she was driving reportedly lost control and crashed through the glass entrance of the departure hall at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) this afternoon.

The incident, which occurred at about 4.20pm, shattered the glass doors of the departure hall and sent broken glass across the passenger walkway, causing panic among members of the public at the scene.

Early indications suggest the driver may have accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to surge forward and crash into the terminal.

However, no passengers or airport staff were injured in the incident.

The driver sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Several videos circulating on social media showed a white SUV with severe damage to its front after crashing into the terminal entrance, with shattered glass scattered across the area.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrudin Mat Husain said investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
