KUALA LUMPUR: A woman died after being crushed by a fallen metal pole that was hit by a car at a food court in Bandar Mahkota Cheras here early this morning.
Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said that in the incident at about 1.15 am, a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old man entered the dining area of the food court after the driver was believed to have pressed the accelerator pedal.
He said the man then tried to drive his car out of the food court before the 47-year-old victim was believed to have run towards the vehicle to block or stop it.
“When the driver was turning the vehicle to exit the food court, the car collided with the pole, causing the pole to topple and crush the victim’s head, resulting in death at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
