GOMBAK – A woman has appealed for a dashcam footage or information from witnesses following an accident that left her husband and child seriously injured at Kilometre 440.5 southbound from Sungai Buaya to Rawang here on Sunday.
Nurul Faiqah Abd Rahman, 34, said her family of five was travelling from Perlis to their home in Cheras when their vehicle was allegedly hit from behind at about 4am to 4.30am.
She said her husband, Tengku Muhammad Shah Asyraf Tengku Sallehuddin, 34, was driving at the time of the incident.
“At the time, we were in the middle lane as usual when a vehicle hit us from behind.
“As a result of the incident, my husband suffered a fractured neck, while our second child suffered fractures to the arm and leg and needs to undergo surgery. The car was also badly damaged and is a total loss,” she said.
Faiqah, a former journalist, said her second child underwent surgery today, while she remained at the Sungai Buloh Hospital with her husband and child.
According to her, the vehicle believed to have hit them was a Toyota Camry carrying three people.
“Our first child and our two-month-old baby are staying at a homestay with my family. I was informed that the driver was believed to be drunk. However, I am not sure whether the party has lodged a police report.
“We want to lodge a report and hope anyone who has dashcam footage from the time of the incident can help,” she said.
She said the family was only about 45 minutes from reaching their home in Cheras when the accident occurred.
Faiqah subsequently appealed to anyone with dashcam footage or information about the accident to come forward to assist the family and police investigation.
Meanwhile, Gombak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ibrahim Husin confirmed that police had received a report concerning the incident.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
