A 32-year-old woman and her three-year-old son died after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance at Jatola village in Kharkhoda on Tuesday evening. Her two daughters, aged 13 and 7, are in critical condition and undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital.

The deceased, Neha of Jatola village, had filed a police complaint alleging harassment by Amit — her nephew in relation. In her complaint to Kharkhoda police, she accused Amit of pressuring her through repeated calls and threatening to kill her family if she objected.

Based on her complaint, police had registered a case against Amit.

On Tuesday evening, Neha and her three children were rushed to a private hospital after allegedly consuming the substance. Her son Riyansh died during treatment, while Neha died on Wednesday.

The condition of both girls remains critical.

ASI Ashok Kumar, In-charge, Saidpur, said Amit has been arrested. “A case was registered against Amit on Neha’s complaint, and sections related to abetment to suicide have also been added,” he said. A separate case was registered against Neha as well, but proceedings against her stand abated due to her death.
