SANDAKAN: A wooden stilt house at Jambatan 18, Kampung Sim Sim, collapsed into the sea at around 9.25am on Thursday.
All 12 house occupants were reported safe, with no injuries recorded.
The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 9.40 am and promptly dispatched a team to the scene.
District Fire and Rescue Station chief Severinus Sainkui confirmed that the 60-by-90-foot house had suffered nearly 90 per cent damage.
Tanjong Papat Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon said his service centre had coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure safety, provide immediate assistance, and monitor the victims’ needs.
