Scotland's hopes for making it to the knockout stages of the World Cup are now in serious jeopardy after being hammered by Brazil 3-0.

In a performance full of sloppy mistakes, Vinicius Junior stepped in after Scott McKenna gave the ball away cheaply to give the Brazilians the lead.

The Real Madrid star got his second at the end of the first half after more poor defending, with Manchester United's Matheus Cunha scoring the third, to complete a miserable evening for the Taratan Army.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke spoke pessimistically at full time, saying: "You give a team like Brazil the chances that we gave them in the game, you expect to get punished.

"And that's what happened. I think we're probably going home."

Elsewhere, Morocco beat Haiti 4-2 to qualify in second place in Group C, while South Africa made it to the knockout stages with a 1-0 win over South Korea.

Co-hosts Mexico made it three wins from three, smashing the Czech Republic 3-0, to send the European side out of the World Cup.

Six games to come today on day 15, stay up to date with coverage throughout the day.

John McGinn hopes Scotland's World Cup "journey is not over" after their crushing 3-0 loss to Brazil.

The midfielder scored the only goal of Scotland's group stages in their opening contest against Haiti.

"We lose poor goals at poor times against a team that can punish you with quality," McGinn told BBC Sport. "We had a few chances, but we've got to wait now.

"The lads are gutted, we fell short on quality, but we gave it absolutely everything. The lads are empty now. It's unlikely [that we qualify], but we'll wait and see.

"It's a bit raw at the minute, but we appreciate the support of the fans, we know it's difficult to be there. Hopefully, the journey is not over, and if we have to go again, we will go again."
