Spain coach Robert Moreno was delighted with their thumping 7-0 win over Malta.
A positive debut from Dinamo Zagreb youngster Dani Olmo and a performance of the highest quality from veteran Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla were the main two talking points on a night where Sergio Ramos celebrated his 169th La Roja appearance.
"Every time they kicked off it seemed that we started all over again; we tried things and they worked," Moreno explained in his post-match interview with TVE.
"We were able to interpret the space inside by reviewing the behaviour of their defenders.
"We spoke about this in the first half and it was incredible that we applied and exploited it."
The aforementioned Dani Olmo has generated a lot of interest in his development, courtesy of his performances for Dinamo Zagreb, and on his debut with La Roja he impressed his coach.
"Dani Olmo scored that first goal, it was incredible," Moreno intimated.
"I'm happy because the kids debuted and scored.
"They showed us that there is talent below and that makes it difficult for us to select a squad."
