Kota Kinabalu: Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin has made a donation to help a poor woman from rural Paitan district who cannot start her studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) due to financial difficulties.

Juhar donated a laptop computer and helped with expenses for Crisnanalina Jumis's preparations to register at UMS, according to a statement.

The UMS Chancellor also helped settle the registration fee for the student's admission to UMS.

"This aid is a caring contribution from Tun Juhar who wants Crisnanalina to receive enough help to enable her to continue her studies at the university."

On Thursday, Express reported that the 20-year-old will register at UMS today (Friday) after getting assistance.
