A friendship developed through an online gaming platform in Ludhiana turned into a disaster for a girl. A youth allegedly gained the victim’s trust and took compromising photographs. Later, he began blackmailing her by threatening to make the images viral.
The victim alleged that the youth called her to meet him in his car. Afterwards, he molested and assaulted the girl. He also snatched her mobile phone and a gold bracelet. On receiving the complaint, the Haibowal police registered a case against the youth on May 29.
The victim, a resident of Haibowal, told the police in her statement that some time ago, while playing an online game, she befriended a youth, Taran Kumar, a resident of Khambra in Jalandhar district. The suspect began visiting her in Ludhiana.
Whenever he visited Ludhiana, he would call her into his car. During which, he repeatedly engaged in obscene acts with her and even took some obscene photographs of her. The girl alleged that the suspect also stole some other photos from her Facebook account and threatened her that he would edit the images and make them viral on social media.
Recently the suspect again met her in his car and snatched her mobile phone and the gold bracelet she was wearing.
Inspector Kulwant Kaur from the Haibowal police station said a raid was being conducted to nab the suspect.
