A tragic road accident on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway near the Bhangala barrier, around 1.5 km from Mukerian, claimed the life of a young man while his friend sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Jalandhar.

The accident took place around 1 am when Vishal Rana was going towards Pathankot along with his friend Preet in a car after having dinner in Mukerian. The police said the duo was reportedly on their way for some personal work when the vehicle went out of control near and rammed into the divider.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely mangled, leaving both occupants critically injured. Personnel of the Road Safety Force rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital, Mukerian. Due to their serious condition, doctors referred them to Jalandhar for advanced treatment.

However, Rana succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. He was identified as the 28-year-old son of Narinder Singh, a resident of Barla village in Dasuya.

The police reached the spot soon after the accident, took the body into custody and initiated further proceedings.
