French Open champion Alexander Zverev will be honoured by the Halle tournament before he starts his 10th attempt to win the grass court event in his native Germany.
Organizers said that Zverev will be honoured on Sunday for his maiden grand slam title a week ago in Paris and for his "contribution to tennis in Germany."
The first round starts on Monday, with top seed Zverev drawn on Saturday to face Czech Vít Kopřiva. Zverev is yet to lift the Halle trophy, losing two finals in 2016 and 2017.
"The tournament is the perfect preparation for Wimbledon. I am here for the 10th time and finally want a first success," Zverev told the Bild paper earlier in the week.
Zverev leads six top 10 players at the event, the others being Felix Auger-Aliassime (world number four), American Ben Shelton (five), last year's finalist Daniil Medvedev of Russia (eight), American Taylor Fritz (nine) and French Open finalist Flavio Cobolli of Italy.
Shelton faces an intriguing first round date with former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios of Australia and the 2022 winner Hubert Hurkacz of Poland starts against twice finalist Andrey Rublev of Russia.
Title holder Alexander Bublik of Kzakhstan opens against a qualifier.
